J. Cornack Therapy Group, LLC is a private, family-owned practice located in Lancaster, PA. We provide therapy services for individuals with developmental disabilities or delays.
Our Owners
Julie and Tom Cornack met in college in their native state of Michigan. Julie then went to Ohio State University to complete her Master’s degree in Speech Pathology, where she studied under Dr. James McDonald at Ohio State’s Nisonger Center. Dr. McDonald had a great influence on Julie’s area of interest in Pediatrics. It was with him that she learned the importance of joint attention and turn taking when treating children with Autism, which she still uses today in her treatment of children on the spectrum.
The couple then moved to Pittsburgh, PA, where Julie began her career at St. Francis Medical Center. This experience was invaluable because it gave her exposure to all areas of Speech Pathology such as pediatrics, rehabilitation of strokes, head injury, swallowing disorders and psychiatric disorders, just to name a few.
Julie eventually specialized in pediatrics while at St. Francis, where she was a part of the diagnostic team who diagnosed and treated Autism, as well as other developmental disorders and delays.
She was then asked to develop the new Pediatric Speech Pathology Department at St. Francis’ new satellite office in Cranberry Township, a suburb of Pittsburgh. There, she developed a pediatric caseload and brought the diagnostic team to the new facility.
In 2002, Julie’s younger sister had a child with Autism. Julie was able to use her knowledge and experience to help her sister and husband navigate the diagnostic and treatment process.
The combination of her personal and professional experiences in children with Autism and other delays/disorders, lead her to finally open a private practice in 2010. Julie and Tom settled in Lancaster, PA and started their business, J. Cornack Therapy Group later that year.
It wasn’t long before the company took off, inspiring the duo to open their first office space in Lititz, Pennsylvania. Today, Julie, a dedicated and passionate speech-language pathologist with over thirty years of experience, and Tom, a humble and hard-working businessman, occupy not one, but two large office spaces where they offer a variety of therapy-related services.
J. Cornack Therapy Group holds Early Intervention contracts with Lancaster, York, and Chester Counties. The group also offers center-based Speech and Language Therapy, Counseling services, Autism Diagnostics and Social Skills Groups for teenagers with a variety of behavioral challenges.
The Cornacks have three children. Erin, their oldest, works as a Special Instructor/Marriage and Family Counselor for the family business. Nikki, their youngest, works as a healthcare recruiter in NYC. And their son, Tyler, who lives in Hollywood, California and is currently pursuing his dream of being a movie director.
As the company continues to grow, Julie and Tom are excited to see what the future holds, not only for their business but for the families whom they have the pleasure of serving.
